Etna, najaktivniji europski vulkan, izbacuje lavu još od ponedjeljka. Obližnji gradovi prekriveni su pepelom i vulkanskim materijalom. Zračna luka u Cataniji zatvorena je, javlja HRT.
ANSA javlja da je Etna nakon više eksplozija izbacila velike količine dima, pepela i lave iz relativno novog jugoistočnog kratera. Seizmička aktivnost je pojačana, Etna je lavu izbacivala i do stotinu metara u vis, a oblak dima i pepela visok je više od kilometra.
Niz padine vulkana i dalje teku rijeke usijane lave, a kiša vulkanskog materijala, tzv. lapila veličine do 10 cm padala je po obližnjim gradovima i prouzročila brojne štete na vozilima.
