Godinu dana nakon previđenog termina na rimskom stadionu Olimpico održana je svečana ceremonija otvaranja 16. izdanja Europskog nogometnog prvenstva koje će se od 11. lipnja do 11. srpnja održati u 11 gradova i država.

Svečanu ceremoniju otvorile su legende Rome i Lazija Francesco Totti i Alessandro Nesta koji su ispucali lopte na tribine u znak povratka navijača u arenu,

Nakon toga je globalna glazbena ikona Andrea Bocelli otpjevala ariju “Nessun Dormu” iz Puccinijeve opere “Turandot”.
Bocelli, koji je veliki ljubitelj nogometa, oduševio je gledatelje svojom izvedbom.

“Bit će mi zadovoljstvo i čast što ću moći ponuditi svoj glas na svečanosti otvaranja. To će biti dragocjena prilika za slanje snažne poruke nade i pozitivnosti”, kazao je uoči nastupa.
“Atmosfera na stadionu je sjajna, sretan sam ponovo vidjeti navijače na tribinama”, kazala je za UEFA-u talijanska legenda Gianluca Zambrotta.
